Player of the Week
Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.
October 14, 2024: Andjela Šojić

Last Week:
• Šojić, the top hitter and blocker all season for NMJC, was heroic last week. She kept alive the team’s chances for a bid to the national finals.
• In two matches Šojić scored 38 kills at .330 efficiency. The 16th-ranked Thunderbirds fell to Amarillo 3-2 and rallied to beat Frank Phillips 3-2.
• Against Frank Phillips, Šojić nailed four consecutive kills to end Set 5 at 16-14. To win the last two sets she scored 13 kills with no errors.
• NMJC is aiming to return to the 16-team NJCAA championship finals next month. Last year was the Thunderbirds’ first season to qualify.
• Šojić leads NMJC this season in kills, blocks and total points.
• The T-Birds are in third place in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference behind New Mexico Military Institute and Odessa College.
• Šojić graduated from high school in 2023, then competed for a year in Serbia’s second-level women’s league with the club OK Beograd.
• She played previously for the clubs Roda, Red Star and TENT.
