Player of the Week

Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

Dec. 9, 2024: Tsvetelina Ilieva

Binghamton University.

America East Conference.

NCAA Division I.

Senior. 5'11" Outside Hitter.

Last Week’s Action:

• In the National Invitational tourney Ilieva blasted past the career and single-season Binghamton hitting records she set earlier this fall.
• Ilieva scored 21 kills at .269 efficiency in a four-set NIVC loss at Bowling Green, which advanced to the tourney quarterfinals.
• Ilieva raised her all-time Binghamton records for kills in a season (535), kills per set in a season (4.73) and career kills per set (4.26).
• The three-time America East Player of the Year topped the conference this season in kills, aces and points. She was sixth in hitting efficiency.
• Nationally this year Ilieva ranked ninth in Division I with 618 points.
• In August Ilieva was named the America East Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. It’s the league’s top honor for women student-athletes.
• Ilieva transferred to Binghamton in 2022 from Seton Hall University, following her head coach, Allie Yaeger, who made the same move.
• In Bulgaria Ilieva competed for the Ahil Volley junior club. She trained at younger ages in basketball, rhythmic gymnastics and track & field.
